stands for ubiquitous generation, like ubicomp (ubiquitious computing). i was just talking with my friend Sri about it over a bowl of noodles. as far as the power grid and GCC is concerned, more small devices is better than a few large ones. ubigen takes advantage of hidden opportunities all over the built landscape. like microgen, but smaller and in more places.
these opportunities are everywhere. how many power generating door hinges would it take to replace one coal-fired power plant? could be worth while. i think my thesis is really about the potential of ubigen, or how to activate its potential.
